The Orquesta Nacional de España was in charge of inaugurating the symphonic season of the ADDA, with its first performance in this auditorium and with a program that had as its second piece a concerto for timpani by the prestigious American composer Philip Glass, who throughout his career has composed more than 20 operas, nine symphonies and several concertos, and has been nominated for the Hollywood Oscars for three soundtracks.
On this occasion, the ONE performed the composition for timpani "Concierto Fantasía", premiered in Spain by two timpanists, the French Julian Bourgeois and the Spanish Javier Eguillor, a native of Jijona, the town where Pablo Garrigós Ibáñez's turrones and sweets are made, who wanted to support the renowned Jijonenco musician by sponsoring such a special event for him, since it meant performing at home and, moreover, in the main auditorium of the province. For the spectators it was also a unique occasion to enjoy live a very complex work, in which up to twelve timpani are used, and which is not seen every day, since there are very few concerts written for timpani.
The audience, which filled the main hall of the ADDA, vibrated with the thrilling interpretation and left with a very good taste in their mouths, both for the strictly musical and for the portions of nougat of Pablo Garrigós Ibáñez that they were able to taste during the break and at the exit of the event.
Numerous media, both local and national, have echoed this performance, which has received unanimous critical acclaim.
